Our Process — Mint Nails

We adhere to a three-step sterilization process — cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing using a medical-grade dry heat autoclave. We follow all Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Board Facility and Infection Control Standards.

1 — Cleaning

Non-porous implements are thoroughly washed and brushed with disinfected bristles and soap until all debris, oils, and dirt are removed. This step is important in aiding in the effectiveness of the next process of disinfecting, where the implements must be fully immersed in BARBICIDE® hospital grade germicide, pseudomonacide, fungicide, and virucide formula.

2 — Disinfecting

After cleaning non-porous implements, using a 2 oz BARBICIDE® to 32 oz water as per manufacturer instructions, implements are completely submerged for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, non-porous implements are air dried. This disinfecting process eliminates many or all microorganisms except some bacterial spores.

3 — Sterilizing

The non-porous implements are placed in see-through self-seal sterilization pouches and inserted into a Steri-Dent Sterilizer 200, a dry heat autoclave, at 320°F/160°C for 60 minutes, which kills all bacteria spores. Dry heat sterilizers are FDA registered and are being used by salons and spas to sterilize metal tools and implements. Implements stay sharp longer and won't pit or rust like conventional steam sterilizers.
